Getting Started

Installation Guide

Master Label smart labels come pre-configured and ready to use. Follow these steps to get started:

  1. Unpack your Master Label smart labels and gateway device
  2. Connect the gateway to power and your network via Ethernet or Wi-Fi
  3. Wait for the gateway LED to turn solid green (approximately 2 minutes)
  4. Activate your labels by removing the protective tab
  5. Labels will automatically connect to the gateway within 30 seconds

First Setup

Access your Master Label dashboard to complete the initial configuration:

  1. Visit your organization's dashboard URL or download the mobile app
  2. Log in with your provided credentials
  3. Complete the setup wizard to configure alert thresholds
  4. Add team members and assign roles
  5. Configure notification preferences (email, SMS, push)

The Master Label dashboard provides real-time visibility into all your monitored items:

  • Live View: See temperature readings for all active labels in real-time

Adding Your First Label

To start monitoring a new item:

  1. Navigate to "Labels" in the dashboard
  2. Click "Add New Label"
  3. Scan the QR code on your label or enter the label ID manually
  4. Assign a name and category to the item (e.g., "Walk-in Cooler #1")
  5. Set temperature thresholds for alerts
  6. Attach the label to your item and start monitoring

How is pricing calculated?

Pricing is based on the number of active smart labels in your organization. Each label includes unlimited data storage, API access, and mobile app usage.

Can I change my plan?

Yes, you can upgrade or downgrade your plan at any time. Changes take effect at the start of your next billing cycle.

Technical Questions

What is the battery life of smart labels?

Our smart labels have a battery life of up to 2 years with standard usage (15-minute reading intervals). Battery status is monitored and you'll receive alerts when replacement is needed.

What is the temperature accuracy?

Master Label sensors are accurate to ±0.5°C (±0.9°F) and are NIST-traceable, meeting FDA and HACCP requirements.

What is the communication range?

Labels can communicate up to 100 meters (330 feet) from the gateway in open space. Range may be reduced by walls and obstacles.

Account Questions

How many users can I add?

User limits depend on your plan. Standard plans include 5 users, Professional plans include 25 users, and Enterprise plans have unlimited users.

Can I manage multiple locations?

Yes, you can manage unlimited locations from a single account. Each location can have its own users, alert settings, and reports.

Troubleshooting

My label shows as offline. What should I do?

First, check that your gateway is powered on and connected to the network. If the gateway is online, try moving the label closer to the gateway. If issues persist, contact support.

I'm not receiving alerts. How do I fix this?

Verify your notification settings in the dashboard under Settings → Notifications. Check that your contact information is correct and that you've set appropriate alert thresholds.
